A moment from history brought back to life. Commissioned by the Barbican Centre for the Beethoven Weekender event, ‘the music fitted beautifully with the action and showed real empathy and understanding for what we originally tried to achieve. I am still smiling’ - Peter Lang.

Barbican Conservatory Pastorale Inspiration | 1st-2nd February 2020
'Pastorale Inspiration', a sound installation imagining Beethoven's sonic landscape. From delicate birdsong and bubbling brooks to dramatic thunderstorms and howling gales. Eleanor imagined and recreated the sonic landscape that inspired Beethoven to compose the Pastorale Symphony. References to birds, the weather and human interaction are found in this symphony. They constructed the installation against the structure of the piece, only using sounds of nature, gently manipulated to resemble the motivic fragments of the symphony.
